Re: VLC 0.9.2 POT file?

http://git.videolan.org/?p=vlc.git;a=blob_plain;f=po/vlc.pot Thanks, but the POT file identifies itself as: "Project-Id-Version: vlc 1.0.0-git\n" For the record, after I posted here, I spoke to Xtophe on IRC last night as well: [23:19] <leuce> I have a question about the translation of VL...

Re: VLC 0.9.5 POT file?

G'day again I see now that version 0.9.4 is the latest Windows version and 0.9.5 is the latest version overall. But the POT file in Git is for version 1.0.0. I can't find a POT file in the Git history specifically for 0.9.5. Is there an appropriate POT file for 0.9.5? Which POT file should a transla...

Which tools to VLC team use with PO files?

G'day everyone (and the developers) What tools do the VLC team use to work with PO files? I mean, if there is a new POT file and you want to create updated PO files for the translators. Do you use the Gettext Tools, or perhaps the Translate Toolkit for that? My question relates to this issue: if a t...

VLC 0.9.2 POT file?

G'day everyone

I see that 0.9.2 is officially out. The POT file in Git is still 0.9.0. Is this normal? Will there be a separate POT file for 0.9.2 soon?

Thanks
Samuel

Using existing VLC translations in our translation system

G'day everyone As some of you may know, I lead a project that encourage volunteers from minority languages to help translate software into their languages. Some of our translators are also taking part in the translation of VLC. I'd like to tell you about a new feature in our web-based translation sy...

Re: Translating VLC in Pootle

The VLC language file is big... 30 000 words. But in many programs, it is possible to translate only a subset of the strings and the program still looks "almost fully translated" to most users. The same goes for VLC. If roughly 7000 strings are translated (the ones marked GUI and controls...

Re: Tagalog/Filipino Translation

Simon ran a l10n workshop a long time ago and used VLC for the practical exercise.
But we haven't heard anything from the people who did the workshop with him.
Thanks, Xtophe, it's always interesting to hear some of the undocumented history of a project.

Re: Turkish translation

I want to localize VLC into Turkish. Any help for this? How can I do this? For the record, I asked ilkerdogan to post here. It is my opinion that new translators should make contact with the existing or previous translators of a project. I've contacted the Turkish language maintainer also (Adem Gun...

Re: Tagalog/Filipino Translation

G'day Cindy I would like to help translate VLC to Tagalog/Filipino and would like to get in touch with the language maintainer. According to http://www.videolan.org/developers/i18n/, the language maintainer for Tagalog is Simeon (simos) Xenitellis, but he's also the language maintainer for Greek, Be...

Translating VLC in Pootle

G'day everyone In the locked thread above is this sentence: To start a new translation you can use rosetta's web interface or ask for your language's ".po" file and use programs like poEdit to edit it. Well, another program that you can use to translate VLC's files, is a Pootle server. Set...

Helping to translate VLC

G'day everyone (and Videolan) I lead an opensource volunteer translation project, called Decathlon. We try to get volunteers in various languages to commit themselves to translating 10 opensource programs this year. We would very much like to give our volunteers the opportunity to translate or help ...
