So far, I've only used VLC to play MKV and AVI files. I haven't played any ogg or other files that have subtitles encoded into them. I honestly don't know if it would give the same random error with another format. I did notice a list of fixes for a previous release that VLC was reverting to msvcrt....

It happens on different files, and doesn't happen in the same place each time. If I bring the same file up and seek to near where VLC crashed, it plays the file fine (with subs & everything). Here's what I do when I get the error: I load about 3-6 half-hour files in the playlist and change to vi...

VLC crashes with MKV [WinXPPro]

VLC crashes when I play MKV files. After about an hour with the subtitles on, WinXP reports an error with VLC. The file still plays fine, but without subtitles, and VLC seems to act normally unless I try to change audio or subtitle tracks. This has happened with several MKV files, and they play fine...
