Re: Cannot update to 3.0.19 from within 3.0.18

I was notified of the 3.0.20 update earlier today and just now downloaded and installed it.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Cannot update to 3.0.19 from within 3.0.18

It's been over two weeks now since v3.0.19 was released. I don't see any major issues mentioned in this forum, so when can I expect to be able to update from within the app? I know I can download it from your site, but I always prefer to wait until it's available from within the app, so I can avoid ...

Re: VLC 3.0.8 Self-Update

I became aware of the update, I believe from an announcement on social media either last weekend or early Monday the 19th. I tried for two days to self-update which failed, so updated it from MacUpdater late Tuesday night, posting the above the next day. All I know is that a few seconds before I acc...

VLC 3.0.8 Self-Update

My understanding is that V3.0.8 patches some serious vulnerabilities, so why am I unable to receive a self-update? I have downloaded it for myself, but everybody needs it now. This isn’t the time for a business as usual metered update.

Re: VLC on Mac - How to close it by pressing "x"?

I know of no means of having a multi-window app quit when closing a single window when others are open. Note the function references specifies termination only “after last window is closed”. Again, I can understand that there can be valid reasons for not implimenting such policy. I was only pushing ...

Re: VLC on Mac - How to close it by pressing "x"?

the app store is not a multimedia application.
That's certainly true and I can understand that there are probably valid reasons for treating media apps differently, but it certainly could be implemented if you chose to.

See applicationShouldTerminateAfterLastWindowClosed(_:)

Re: VLC on Mac - How to close it by pressing "x"?

no, this is not how Mac applications work.
Actually, it is and I can give you several examples, but let's start with an easy one from Apple. Open the App Store application and click on the red close button. You'll see the App Store quit immediately.

Re: VLC on Mac - How to close it by pressing "x"?

On Mac, you close apps not on the red cross of one window, but only with VLC --> Quit.
Although that's generally true, the developer does have the option of having the application quit when the last window is closed, so I recommend you consider @nelld323's posting as a feature request.

Re: vlc 2.2.4 won't update from "check for update" in menubar.

When I filed a bug report on May 13 (which was cancelled) I was told: This is deliberately staged. Download manually or wait. After a week (May 20) I wrote back and was told the next day: We usually wait for feedbacks before enabling auto-update, and the feedback for 2.2.5.1 were mitigated to the th...

Re: VLC 2.0.7?

Just a comment that 2.0.7 has now been out for over a week and "Check for Update..." still indicates that v2.0.6 is current. Somebody needs to update the Sparkle information.

The Forum announcement thread hasn't been updated, either.

Version 1.0.2

Because of the security issues, we strongly recommand everybody to update its version of VLC.
Great as long as you upgrade to Leopard at the same time. How about a security update for the majority of VLC users who are still operating with Mac OS X 10.4.11 and below?

VLC Plugin version number

Both the installer and the resultant web browser plugin from the 0.8.6e download still indicate it to be version 0.8.6d, but the content dates of yesterday seem to indicate it is, in fact, the "e" version.
