Re: Streaming from Hauppage HD-PVR

Great news. The driver for linux (hdpvr) compiles easily on debian based systems, per the instructions on the MythTV Wiki. I even got it to work on my ubuntu 8.04 LTS Desktop system which is running as a guest inside virtualbox on a Vista host, although I saw some flakey USB issues (which I think mi...

Re: Streaming from Hauppage HD-PVR

I will go ahead and answer my own post since I haven't heard from anyone else yet. I have one the of HD-PVR units in front of me, after a number of delays before Hauppage shipped it to me. I have it running under Vista and just did some successful SD captures off the RCA inputs from a DVD player as ...

Streaming from Hauppage HD-PVR

Has anyone tried this device yet?

It is a hardware MPEG4 HD encoder, which outputs MPEG2 TS with MPEG4 AVC content, from Component inputs.

I'm interesting in reading live from the input and multicasting the result on my LAN. Is this possible?

Transcode MPEG2 just to increase audio levels?

Hello everyone, I've got a unique case that I'm hoping can be addressed with some VLC magic. I have a professional satellite feed that I am receiving digitally as an MPEG2-TS. The problem is, the audio level is below our standard reference level, so when compared with our other streams, the audio is...

Silence detection

Hello all, I'm curious whether there is any feature in vlc that would allow me to detect silence or very low audio levels on the input stream? I have a watchdog process that is monitoring the stream and if there are X seconds of silence I want to raise an alarm, as the input source should not ever b...

Transcode live multicast to flash and emebed in web page

Hello all, I'm curious whether or not what I want to do is possible, and what the transcode --sout statement should look like. On my video LAN I currently have a 180x120 256K/s multicast of each video channel (a video thumbnail). When I access the web page for a given channel, I want to be able to s...

Re: How to downsample Apple HD Movie Trailers to 2 Channel Audio

Ok, a bit of an update. I got the SVN from last night installed. Some of the trailers that had audio problems play properly (but don't loop properly, as far as I can tell), and many others just segfault during the initital attempt to launch the stream. Given that it is a nightly build I suspect ther...

Re: Building Debian Stable (Etch) packages from SVN

Thanks for the info, that is exactly what I was looking for. I didn't want to take the whole system to unstable, just the packages I need to make vlc-nox work. I'll give that a shot.

Re: Building Debian Stable (Etch) packages from SVN

I now have the nightly SVN build running on an unstable box. Is this the only way to have it operating with MPEG4 and AAC support due to library dependencies? I just needed to add --security-policy=1 to the end of my command string to account for that new feature in 0.9.0. Unfortuantely I was hoping...

Building Debian Stable (Etch) packages from SVN

Hello All, I'm having a difficult time building .deb packages from the svn branch. I haven't had any luck finding a rules file or a list of dependcies. Is it even possible to build a debian package from the SVN, and if so, can someone point me to a resource to help make it happen? Or does the SVN re...

Re: How to downsample Apple HD Movie Trailers to 2 Channel Audio

Since I haven't had any success or any replies I thought I would post an update. I tried compiling VLC stable 0.8.6d from source on Debian Etch. After much fiddling with the rules file to update it for some of the recent changes (the source file in the svn appears to be for 0.8.6a), and adding back ...

Re: Create multicast loop of jpg or png photos?

Is there an example of this anywhere?

I may be able to do some scripting to cook up a delay or string multiple files together if I have some direction on the appropriate VLC command line entries.

Thanks

(I have realized this was misposted under general Linux and probably belong here instead, I'm moving it over and will place a link back in the previous area instead.) EDIT: I am running "VLC media player 0.8.6a Janus" on Debian Etch Hello All, First let me say that VLC is a truly amazing p...

Create multicast loop of jpg or png photos?

Is there a way with the vlc command line streamer to create a looping udp multicast stream (ie a slideshow) of a series of digital photos, either with or without transitions between them, but with a set delay before changing the photo? IE I'd like to take a directory of high resolution landscape pho...

I believe this belongs, more appropriately, over in the sout forum, so I have moved it to a new post there:
