Video orientation still not working

Reading old posts it appeared that 2.1 was finally going to read .mp4 video orientation flags. But my Galaxy s3 mp4's still show up flipped incorrectly. Is there a setting I'm missing? I'm hoping that after all these years VLC can finally get this right---

Startup pause/stutter

Why does VLC start playing a video for 1 second, then stop and pixelate (stutter) before it starts playing smoothly again? I've had this problem for years on Windows xp, vista, and win7. Maybe it's just VLC vs. windows behavior. So then everybody running VLC under windows sees this, right? But it's ...

pixelated, poor quality on Win7

For some reason the mod previously ignored complaints that 1.0.3 also had the same problems people have been reporting. 1.0.3 did not fix anything relating to this issue. For those still having quality problems, the solution is to go into options and clear out the dll cache. Appears to be a problem ...

Re: pixelated, poor quality video in Windows 7 RTM

Found a solution, I think it was suggested before but procedure not stated. For any version giving you trouble, go into advanced settings and deselect "use a plugins cache". Save and restart. Video quality should be fine now.

Re: pixelated, poor quality video in Windows 7 RTM

So is VLC for windows going away? Are there really no developers for windows using Win 7? It's simply unusable because of this issue. And even if there were a developer, there seems to be no known cause for this issue.

Re: Still no FF sound disable?

People have asked for an option to disable sound on fast forward for a long time now. Ha, how funny, until 0.9.*, we didn't even PLAY audio during FF..... Man, do you have to wait long to get your feature !!!! ?? I'm not asking for a new "feature". I'm asking to *disable* a highly annoyin...

Re: Audio settings-- how to disable center speaker?

Almost 4 months. Any status on this feature? Also it would be nice to force surround decoding when available. Now I have to manually enable surround if there is a stereo track present as well.

Still no FF sound disable?

People have asked for an option to disable sound on fast forward for a long time now. Seems like a trivial feature to add. Sound is really annoying when you fast forward-- why was this enabled in the first place?

Fullscreen appearing on 2nd monitor

Hi-
I have a dual monitor display. When I go to fullscreen mode, VLC jumps to my 2nd monitor (monitor #2 per nvidia setup). How can I keep VLC from jumping to the wrong monitor? I can find no advanced setup setting for this--

That would be excellent. Thanks. Especially helpful for those who use VLC to drive their HTPC (Home theater PC), or any computer driving an HDTV.

Audio settings-- how to disable center speaker?

I don't have a center speaker, but have 2 front and 2 rear. I have to manually switch VLC from 5.1 to 2f+2r speakers every time. I don't see standard or advanced settings to always choose 2f+2r speakers. Is this possible?
Thanks!

Re: Issues with current Release on Windows

Not sure I follow you. The last release crashed on .flv's. The "fix" posted locks up on open configuration. The nightly builds, which I check out all the time, have no formal feedback mechanism. What is the release process? And what do you mean users don't help you? What is this forum for?...

Re: Issues with current Release on Windows

The last few builds have been pretty buggy. Why don't the developers allow beta testing to forum users BEFORE making builds available for general download? It would save a lot of people a LOT of headaches. We can catch no-brainer bugs like .flv's not playing.

Latest nightly finally plays HD H.264!

For the first time, the latest nightly build will play H.264 HD DVB transport streams. Congratulations! A developer has finally updated the ffmpeg libraries. FFMPEG has been able to play DVB H.264 streams for over a year, but nobody has ever bothered to update VLC with FFMPEG until now. Satellite en...

Re: VLC and DVB H.264 HDTV

Nope. Nightly builds can't play H.264 HD DVB files. VLC is based on ffmpeg, but unfortunately the developers don't keep up with modern ffmpeg builds. At least not in the last 6 months or so.

Re: h.264 High-Def files crashing 8.6d/9.0

ffmpeg plays these HD files just fine-- any front-end GUI for ffmpeg.exe will play DVB H.264 files perfectly. Why doesn't VLC use the lastest FFMPEG builds??

h264 HD nightly build

Current 8.6d/e nor any nightly build can play any satellite-based H264 HD files. 8.6 crashes instantly, and nightly builds show bad choppy artifacts.

HOWEVER, latest ffmpeg builds over last few months play them perfectly. I'm confused-- doesn't VLC use ffmpeg? Why can't VLC play h264 HD formats?

h.264 High-Def files crashing 8.6d/9.0

Well, 8.6d crashes and 9.0 nightly pixelates. These are high-def DVB .ts files. I've tried every nightly 9.0 for quite a while. Is this the best place to submit log files for the 9.0 developers to analyze? Can't find a developers board.

Thanks
