After I have used VLC (0.9.3, same with older versions) to play video that uses S/PDIF I'm unable to hear sound in Flash videos. The videos on Youtube start playing (without sound) but stop after 2 seconds, my guess is that they stop because a buffer fills up. The only way to 'fix' this is by restar...

Not 100% sure how this works in OS X but normally on un*x port 0-1023 are privileged ports. You'll need admin (root) permission to use those ports for incoming traffic.

According to http://buildbot.videolan.org/ the OS X Intel builds are compiling/linking without an issue but the builds don't seem to show up on: http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/mac ... l/?C=M;O=D

Last build there seems to be from Jan 4th 2008?
