Re: Playlist/MediaLib issues

I have found more issues: * Opening multiple files into the playlist works but it is not possible to add whole directories with contents (and their subdirectories ...) * In the file selection dialogue there are four ways of showing files; "Media Files", "Video Files", "Audio...

Playlist/MediaLib issues

The playlist/Media library has a few issues that are not yet resolved. I use VLC mainly on Windows but I think these issues are general. What I've found is the following: * One cannot add whole directories in the media library, especially directories on shared networks (Windows/CIFS), the player rep...

Re: VLC plugin doesn't work in Mozilla

I can't see how the registry can create problems for VLC and there's definitely not a problem with the file format since the standalone player can play all the videostreams the plugin fails to play.

VLC plugin doesn't work in Mozilla

I have used the VLC plugin for playback of audio and video content in Firefox for quite some time now. I can't say it had worked well. It tends to hang with a black screen showing the message "Waiting for video" and when it does work there are no playback controls such as the progress slid...

Re: Trouble with streamed playback

I know I can download it but that's far besides the point which is that it doesn't work properly with streaming.

Trouble with streamed playback

I was trying to play the following movie trailer online using VLC and it constantly freezes: http://www.fastandfuriousmovie.net/media/FF4_T2_NEW_HD_720p.mov I was using VLC 0.9.9 running on WinXP x64 behind a 100Mbit fiberLAN connection. During playback with VLC the transfer rate lies around 1 MB/s ...

Batch playback doesn't work.

After browsing through my set of mp3s with my command prompt I typed the following: C:\ ... \ > VLC *.mp3 and I got the error message: "*.mp3" not found when pressing play (why should I have to press play when I already invoked the function from the command prompt?!?) WTF!? I repeat; WT-bl...

Re: Files not playing

Just keep in mind that this has exposed a flaw in VLC player. It could be improved to be better with handling corrupt mp3s.

Re: VLC 0.8.6d cannot play Silu (=HDDVD/BluRay) .ts files!

Well, " { VLC_FOURCC('W','V','C','1'), CODEC_ID_VC1, VIDEO_ES, "Windows Media Video VC1" } " doesn't say anything about VLC's ability to use the ffvc1 codec. If this was shown during a successful playback, it is most likely that VLC has used the wvc1dmo codec. Regarding source fo...

Re: VLC 0.8.6d cannot play Silu (=HDDVD/BluRay) .ts files!

ffmpeg is a family or package of different codecs. If it were fully implemented, VLC should be able to use all of them which it is obviously not since it is unable to use the ffvc1 (or "FFmpeg M$ WVC1" if you will) codec.

Re: Files not playing

OMFG what kind of crappy files are these?!? I analyzed the "apologize" file using NotePad and found that it was padded with binary ones and zeros and repeating sequences of 8N ... ... Pp7. The 0000000 FFFFFFF data occupies about 1.3Mb of the file. After removing them it still had another h...

Re: VLC 0.8.6d cannot play Silu (=HDDVD/BluRay) .ts files!

Well I wish you good luck with it. Perhaps you should have an HD-specific section on your upload site for troublesome clips. Evidently most recent builds of the ffmpeg's libavcodec suite are quite capable of playing HiDef VC1 streams as I have had success playing them with mplayer. And I think that ...

Re: VLC 0.8.6d cannot play Silu (=HDDVD/BluRay) .ts files!

Besides Sony, Pioneer, LG and Samsung there are at least another 150 brands unkown to mankind in the western countries. And I'm quite sure that at least a few of them have a line of DVB-receivers/Media Centers (or whatever you want to call them) that are capable of doing all of the above. PowerDVD 7...

Re: TS file playback error and complicated files :-\

I suppose I could upload a clip. The quotation law should allow us to share at least a few seconds without infringing the copyright laws. I have now extracted two clips of 25MB (c:a 5 secs) each using a regular file splitter; the first one shows the Universal logo and the second one is from the midd...

Re: VLC 0.8.6d cannot play Silu (=HDDVD/BluRay) .ts files!

No, it still doesn't work, i.e. the --codec dmo option does not enforce VLC to use ffmpeg's VC1 codec. If ripping HDDVD to .ts was such a bad idea, we wouldn't have a billion asians doing it, would we? They are technologically far more developed than we are and technologies such as 1080p, and 100Mb ...

I am currently posting on another thread regarding similar issues with VLC. http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=43446 VLC is currently unable to play any such files but if you are desperate you can find other players that are capable of playing it. If you find the right codec packs yo...

Re: VLC 0.8.6d cannot play Silu .ts files!

I read on the Silu website that Chinese characters in the description strings have a tendency to corrupt some of the media players (However, I don't think this has caused any problems here ...). Moreover they say that all the content in the Silu .ts files is left untouched, i.e. the streams are ripp...

The file is not broken since it plays flawlessly on Cyberlink PowerDVD 7.3! mPlayer plays it with accurate picture and sound (usind PID 4133, see next post below). A codec based media player such as Gabest Media Player Classic plays it with accurate sound but no picture. Moreover, Quickpar hash veri...
