Can you try with VLC 3.0 RC7 ?

The fix is in Windows nightly builds starting from the 25th (today). And that's only Windows 7 (force direct3d11) and upper (default for 8.1 and 10).

If you're running anything other than that, there's no fix.

Not really. It may be WhatsApp that takes time to generate the thumbnail.

Can you try installing VLC 3.0 instead ? It seems you're using VLC 2.2.

It seems that it was opened correctly but then there is no data received.

The proper format is "jpn,kor".

When the values are correctly understood you should have something like this in the logs:

main input debug: selected audio language[0] ja
main input debug: selected audio language[1] kr

After that it should work.

it's at least missing " at the end.

Do you have the latest drivers installed for your card ?

It's HDR samples. It's not going to work in VLC 2.2 but should work in 3.0.

We do detect it and read the metadata but don't handle it correctly.

Can you try VLC 3.0 Release Candidate ? It seems to be working fine for me.

Please try with a nightly build of VLC 3.0 Release Candidate. It should work. And if not please report back.

Can you upload a sample file somewhere ? I tried getting one but it doesn't work not knowing chinese I have no idea why.

Preferences > Input/Codecs > Files > Record directory or filename

Can you paste some detailed logs ? Ctrl+M and verbosity to 2 before you open the DVD disc.

You should look at the --sout options, it allows you to output what is being read into a file. You can choose the bitrate, codec, select the input track, etc.
