I cannot reproduce this behaviour...

It may be because the vout uses YV12 which is almost I420 and so no conversion filter is used. But the decoder detect it's not the same FourCC and refuses to use that...

Do you have the logs of each instance (-vvv) ? Maybe the second one cannot hook to the port ?

What do the logs say when you have such hiccups ?

This is a bug in recent changes on the way we handle chapters. When they don't have names we don't display them.
This will be fixed in an upcoming release.

Can you try with VLC 3.0 ? We won't backport fixes in 2.2.8.

Can you try one of the 3.0.1 nightlies available here to see if the problem persists ?

I can confirm I have the same thing. Just oping/closing VLC 3.0.0 64 bits.

Can you file an "issue" on https://trac.videolan.org/vlc so these bugs and feature requests don't get lost and worked on when time is available ?

Are you using Direct3d11 (Windows 8.1+) or Direct3d9 ? Did you set the hardware acceleration to automatic ?

Do you have a sample file and possibly a screen capture of the issue ? Also are you using Direct3D11 output or Direct3d9 (it's default to 11 on Windows 8.1+, otherwise 9).

I made some changes to the way we process the tone mapping. The next nightly build (of VLC 4.0) should fix these issues.

Have you tried VLC 3.0 ?

This file is not decoded by the hardware decoder but in software. And you only see keyframes because it's too slow to decode the rest in time.

Can you check with VLC 3.0 ?

Can you try "guest/guest" or "guest/<no password>" ?

Always download VLC from videolan.org.

Are you using VLC 3.0 ? If so which filters are not working ?

Are you using VLC 2.2 ? If so please try VLC 3.0. With hardware decoding that might solve the issue.

"Alt+Print Screen" will save a capture of the window in your clipboard.

Sorry it was in the 4.0 branch on the 25th. And the 3.0 RC branch on the 26th.
There's no fix for mac/Linux yet.
