Noone's answered probably because they haven't found that issue. I use the latest version with x264 mkvs. I have tried Perian with Quicktime. It also seems to play it just fine. I wanted to see if playback didn't have some of the choppiness that happens from time to time with VLC but didn't get arou...

I see. Thanks. When I saw it used 50% I didn't make the link with the fact that it was using only one core, and that meant 50%....This explains it :) That said, I don't remember noticing the same thing on a dual core 2.16GHz Intel iMac, so I thought this was also linked to the poor OpenGL support in...

OpenGL? That sounds like that would handicap some of us that have the integrated graphics chips (Intel) that aren't very good with OpenGL. I have been playing 720p MKVs with my Macbook. The strange thing that happens is that video gets a bit choppy during big scrollings on movies or when large parts...
