Re: VLC with VDPAU on Ubuntu Natty Narwhal

It looks like libva is broken in Natty, according to this bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libva/+bug/774667 I already tried to compile this library from source*, but I ended up with the same problem when running vainfo . * I am testing two different systems, one a job, one at h...

Re: VLC with VDPAU on Ubuntu Natty Narwhal

Thanks, Rémi, but how I force VLC to use this library?

Is it necessary to recompile VLC for this or can I use the packaged version as I have it installed? (This is "VLC media player 1.1.9 The Luggage").

VLC with VDPAU on Ubuntu Natty Narwhal

I have been browsing a bunch of posts about using VDPAU with VLC, but some are old, they ask you to compile this and that, etc. My question is simple: I have a barebone with a processor HD capable: Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU D525 @ 1.80GHz. I have Ubuntu Natty Narwhal installed on it. I then installed th...

VLC not working with AVerMedia DVD EZMaker PCI Deluxe

I used to be able to capture video from my VHS recorder by using my AVerMedia DVD EZMaker PCI Deluxe capture card and VLC. I guess I did some subsequent recompilation of VLC or ffmpeg, the thing is now when I need to capture some video I cannot. This is how my system (Ubuntu Feisty Fawn) successfull...

Re: Trying to compile VLC 0.8.6e with ffmpeg

Ok, I think I got it! I mostly followed instructions by Yohann Martineau. First of all, I installed the following libraries: * faac, version 1.26 * faad2, version 2.6.1 (Libraries mp3lame and x264 had already been installed by me). Then I configured FFmpeg in this way (not using --enable-libfaad her...

Re: Trying to compile VLC 0.8.6e with ffmpeg

Thanks for the hints, guys. I have made some progress, by configuring FFmpeg like this: ./configure --enable-gpl --enable-shared --enable-pthreads --enable-postproc --enable-libmp3lame --enable-zlib --enable-libvorbis --enable-liba52 --enable-libgsm --disable-debug --enable-libfaad --enable-libxvid ...

Re: Trying to compile VLC 0.8.6e with ffmpeg

Thanks for your answer, belZe . Unfortunately, there is no --enable-postproc option in this configure script. Maybe it was the case in previous versions. Also, I must say ffmpeg was built, but libraries like libavcodec.a or libavformat.a have been installed on /usr/local/lib . I think there is some ...

Trying to compile VLC 0.8.6e with ffmpeg

My system is Ubuntu Feisty Fawn and I'm trying to compile the latest VLC build. First I compiled latest revision of FFmpeg. It only gave me some trouble with the option --enable-libfaac, since I could not get installed libfaac-dev on my system (incompatibility with installed libafaac0). Anyway, I do...

Re: No sound capturing from AVerMedia DVD EZMaker PCI Deluxe

I am glad to answer myself to close this thread. This was that simple: v4l2-ctl --set-ctrl=volume=65500,mute=0 I was using a volume level of 10 or so, which is very low. So, v4l2 in his latest version is supporting this card very well, it even allows to capture my old VHS recordings at 720x576 inste...

No sound capturing from AVerMedia DVD EZMaker PCI Deluxe

I am trying to use this capture card with Ubuntu Feisty Fawn. I installed latest v4l2 driver which supports this card. I recompiled VLC with options --enable-v4l2 and --enable-pvr among others. Now, I see the tab PVR for capturing from a card (while with VLC from repositories I saw a tab called Vide...
