thanks for the suggestion but that'd actually be more trouble than it's worth since i really just wanted to watch the movie (which i've already done using miro) and was only mildly curious as to why it wasn't working in vlc

i've got a .mp4 that won't play in vlc. it plays but seems to be skipping frames in quicktime, and strangely enough plays beautifully in miro. any ideas as to why it won't play in vlc?
i have not tested them on another computer, but i have tested the files with with miro as well as quicktime (which has the necessary codec to play this file) with the same results as vlc. that is, the first file plays fine, while the second doesn't work. i guess i'll just have to download an entire ...
i've got a film that i downloaded that is separated into two .avi files. the first one plays fine, the second one doesn't do anything. when i try to open it with VLC the name shows up in the playlist, but the duration remains blank and no video plays. i didn't encounter any problems when downloading...
i have a .sub and .idx file that are displaying some pretty horrible and hard to read subtitles. is there anything i can do about this? in particular i'd like to change the font style and also make it not italicized
