Hello, Go to Preferences->Stream output->Sout Stream->Transcode Check "advanced options". At the end of the page, there is a "threads" option. Set it to the number of procs that should be used (I would recommend not using 4 but 3 if you want to do something while encoding)

It does not at the moment, and for the moment, we do not really plan on adding this feature, as rm (real media) is a proprietary format for which no open source decoder exists at the moment

Hello,

No, VLC can't do this. The problem is that anyway, transmitting and displaying the huge amount of uncompressed data will probably be hard too for your p2 266.

Basically, this is probably the single most critical problem in VLC these days: it can't "stop" to "wait the buffer". Changing this will definitely be done, but it is quite complex...

For webcam, you absolutely need to transcode, which the wizard does not allow (yet?). You should use the "normal" GUI, which is fairly documented in our "streaming howto"

Hello,

The videos that have this problem are broken AVI files. VLC can "repair" them. At the moment, you need to go to Preferences->Input/Codecs->Demuxers->AVI and select "repair AVI index".

Hello,

Did you try to enable postprocessing in VLC (in the Video menu). It uses ffmpeg post-processing algorithms, like ffdshow, so the quality should just be the same.
