This thread is in the Mac board, but your screen shot is not the Mac version so you should post in the board for the OS you're are using for more direct help.

Re: How to put controls on the window that is playing video?

If you have Preferences -> Video -> Window decorations unchecked, the video window will have no frame or controls, so check it to get them. If it's already checked, you may need to trash your preferences or click Reset All in the prefs.

Re: VLC not working on a Powerbook G4 running OSX 10.8

I'll assume you meant OSX 10.5.8. Did you download the PowerPC version? https://get.videolan.org/vlc/2.0.9/macosx/vlc-2.0.9-powerpc.dmg Although I'm not sure if the G4 is supported in that version, so failing the above, try: http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/1.1.12/macosx/vlc-1.1.12-powe...

Re: Playlist window position gradually changes

Using 2.1.1 nightly, I finding that if I open VLC without playing the video and move the playlist, after I quit an re-open the window is where it was before I moved it. However if I move it and play a video, it then remembers where it was after re-opening.

Re: Mavericks shows menu bar in full screen mode

Also, you might try setting it to "Use the native fullscreen mode" and select "Displays have separate Spaces" in Mission Control if you were never using that before to see if it's any better.

Re: Mavericks shows menu bar in full screen mode

After making any of the above changes, you should restart VLC.... just making sure. Otherwise, that's probably the limit of what I can guess at here without a 2nd display. Someone else will need to step in. ...or you can add to this ticket which seems to be about the same issue: https://trac.videola...

Re: Mavericks shows menu bar in full screen mode

In your VLC preferences, do you also have "Use the native fullscreen mode" under "Interface" deselected? ...and then under "Video" maybe try deselecting "Black screens in Fullscreen mode".

Re: Mavericks shows menu bar in full screen mode

This could have to do with Apple's revised multiple displays / spaces support. I don't have a 2nd display here, so this is just a shot in the dark, but try going to "System Preferences -> Mission Control" and deselect "Displays have separate Spaces". You may also have options I d...

With phpBB, the message remains in the outbox until it is read allowing you a chance to further revise it before it is read. Once read it will move to the sent box.

Re: Why won't iTunes play demux / split audio that VLC will?

96 kbps is low to begin with but up-sampling will gain you nothing. As you can see Quicktime is not actually demuxing since that would normally give you the original audio data. It's simply encoding it to a new format. Best to not re-encode an already low quality track since it could make it sound w...

Re: Why won't iTunes play demux/split audio that VLC will?

Native audio format for an mp4 is usually an AAC so naming it .m4a instead of .mp3 may make a difference. You can also try dropping the original file on iMediaHud to see what it's exact specs are. (https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/40255/imediahud) You can get a small bit of that information while p...

Actually, what they need to do is just read the exif meta information that tells the player what orientation the video is so it's automatic.

Re: Dropping Frames with 2.1.0 if Sharpen Turned On

JB, this is also likely due to the over twice as much cpu usage (vs 2.0.8 ) with sharpen turned on that I've reported at: https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/9458

Dropped frames issues is how I first noticed which lead me to notice the cpu usage problem.

Maybe…

Is there a file listed next to "Use subtitle file"? If so, try blanking that out.

Re: Wierd codec problems

The video has DRM encoded in it so that it only plays in Windows Media Player or a player that can decrypt it which as far as I know hasn't been licensed to the Mac even with Flip4Mac.

Maybe find a better source for your videos. MKVs are more reliable for me.
