Re: Why not surround sound decoding to multipleout sound

Hi Jean-Baptiste, The motu 828 mark II, that I have, is an 8 analog in, 8 analog out sound card used for multi-track recording. It has more ins and outs but those analog ones are what am wanting to use. It is connected to my computer using firewire. It is "seen" by my audio recording appli...

Why not surround sound decoding to multipleout sound

HI there, I have been trying to find a video player that sees my motu 828 firewire audio interface (8 analog audio outs) as an audio destination and where I can assign the six 5.1 tracks of a movie to. Of all the players out there, I would expect vlc to do it. It really can't be that hard. Or can it...

Re: choosing multichannel audio output with external device

HI there,

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking all three os. I have a motu that works with both my windows and mac and will hopefully soon work with my ubuntu.

Is it possible for vlc to see the multi-channel interface and allow for routing of a surround configuration.

thanks,

HI there, You might already have this. I have asked in other forums but either no reply or in one an "I'm not sure". Can vlc see an attached multi channel external audio interface like a motu 828 mkII and have the user be able to route 5.1 or 7.1 audio encoding from dvds to the outputs of ...

getting 5.1 sound thru motu 828mkII

Hi there, I have my firewire 828mkII plugged in but I don't see it as an option under audio device. I do see it as an option when it is plugged into my mac. playing 5.1 with powerbook and motu 828mkII

Hi there,

When I have my firewire 828mkII plugged in I see under sound device that it is an output option. Can I send the 5.1 channels off a dvd to 6 outputs, which I will send to my analog 5.1 setup? If so, how do I get into the program to do that?

thanks,

Re: using vlc to capture video

Hi Thresh,

Thanks for the help you supplied. I realize you gave me a lot of info on the first reply. I'm just slowly working thru it.

I'm probably closer than I think.

Hi there,

Sorry for the lack of info.

My video card is Videomate TV PCI Tuner card and I see it is listed as functional with video4linux. What name do I put in for video device name and audio device name?

Thanks,

Re: using vlc to capture video

Hi Thresh, Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure what the wxwigets interface is. I can open the open capture device under file on the vlc media player.; I do that and open the video 4 linux tab: video device name is /dev/video and audio device is dev/dsp. Norm is automatic and frequency is -1. These se...
