*bump, same problem here. Another way to repro is starting videofile from torrent client, then (in my case) will also go into screensaver..

I doubt it is tested. It depends on a lot of factors to make it work.
Ok, I guess Ill post this in feature request. Like I said it works in windows/winrar/potplayer, so they must be doing something right..

Jabadabadoe! I upgraded nVidea driver and my AC97 audio drivers and my computer doesn't freeze anymore when i exit VLC..
