Re: How to parse RTCP messages

Thanks. However, I've analyzed sent RTCP messages and client (VLC) sends the packets to the TCP multiplexer port instead the streaming port +1. I also use VLC (configured with VLM's telnet interface) in the server side. I gave it a try some time ago with VLC 0.8.6e and now with 0.9.4 and the issue p...

Re: How to parse RTCP messages

I want to implement a streaming adaptation module that could switch between high and low quality streams. In order to take such decision I need some performance parameters such as those given by RTCP messages (mainly loss and jitter). As I am using VLC in both server and client sides I would like to...

How to parse RTCP messages

Hi,

I would like to know which libraries could I use to parse RTCP messages sent in a streaming transaction with VLC server and clients. Any experience or piece of advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you all.

Libraries needed to transcode to H.264 and MPEG-4 audio

Hi,

I'm trying to trasconde MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 videos into H.264/MPEG-4 audio but I get error messages regarding lack of codecs. I would like to know what should I do (what libraries should I install) in order to transcode properly.

Thanks.

Configure RTP ports for video and audio streaming

Hi, Is possible to configure the range of ports VLC uses when serving and/or getting RTP streams through VLM/VLC? For example, when any client wants to get a VoD RTP stream, AFAIK, client uses RTSP setup messages to ask for receiving video and audio streams through different ports. So I need to conf...

--start-time doesn't work with local files

Hi, Could anyone check if starting to play a local file with the --start-time option works, please? I've been trying with 0.9.4, 0.9.3 and 0.9.0-test 3 and neither of them work for local files while playing RTSP streams with this option works properly. I've tried it also with 0.8.6e and it works nic...

As said in other threads, it depends on hardware as VLC has no inherent limitations regarding this.

Re: How to embed VLC into a GUI-based C/C++ application

What I meant to say is if the VLC API provides with any specific objects and/or methods in order to get a media player window embedded in any GUI, and if this objects/methods depended on the GUI framework used.Obviously, such methods may exist as VLC media player can be launched using wxWidgets and ...

How to embed VLC into a GUI-based C/C++ application

Hi, First of all, please excuse how general my question is, but I don't want to be attached to any GUI framework due to possible incompatibilities with VLC. So, first I ask and then I decide. Overall, my question is quite simple, but as I have not seen any answered thread with the same issue I start...

VLC 0.9.4 crashes when disposing a JFrame

Hi, I'm using JVLC 0.9.0-test3 jar file (the last official release) to develop a video streaming client. I have tried it with VLC 0.9.0-test3, VLC 0.9.3 and VLC 0.9.4 but I get the same results. I have my Java application with a VLC-based embedded window into a Swing JFrame. My application allows to...

Re: JVLC Crash

1. No, I use VLM through telnet - command line with my own Java front end on the server side and with VLC 0.8.6e. I haven't tried JVLC's VLM object. 2. I have tried many combinations but, basically, I've tried JVLC's site jar file (0.9.0-test3 from 27-7-2008) with VLC 0.9.0 test 3 with the same date...

Re: JVLC Crash

othon2000, I've been trying to make JVLC work for a year and, with the latest jar file, it has been possible to use it, although as you can see in this and many other threads, there is an existing lack of programmers and support. The issues with JVLC crashes seem to be related with JNA "transla...

VLM's telnet interface in VLC 0.9.3

Hi, I read some time ago that with new VLC 0.9 releases the telnet interface to configure a VLM streaming service would be 'hidden' to the user and this service could be configured through a GUI. Now it is available through Tools > VLM Confguration menu but what I would like to know is if the VLM co...

Problem with RTSP: No access module matched "rtsp"

Hi, I have updated (in Ubuntu 8.04.1) from VLC 0.9.0-test3 to VLC 0.9.3 and now I can't receive any RTSP stream. I use VLC 0.8.6e in the server side, but it worked before so I guess it should now. I have downloaded the source code for VLC 0.9.3, configured with 'prefix=/usr --with-live555-tree=~/liv...

Re: JVLC Crash

Hi, As I experienced many issues with JVLC's MediaListPlayer I'm currently trying to create my own CustomMediaListPlayer class. In order to make it work I need to use listeners and events as you have done. Then, I've experienced a problem with MediaPlayer management when an End Reached event is rais...

Re: JVLC Crash

By the way, why do you want to add a MediaPlayerListener to a MediaDescriptor object? I think it doesn't make any sense as listeners should be added to MediaPlayer objects, shouldn't they?

Re: JVLC Crash

I managed to get it working - but you're not gonna like the solution! I basically rewrote the entire JVLC MediaDescriptor and MediaPlayer classes. It's rather ugly, quite complicated, and involved. But no more crashes! :D (At least not so far). If I can get approval to release my changes, I would b...
