no I was not using skype, although I installed skype on that machine. Only used skype once on that machine, but I've watched videos at least 10 times and always got the problem. I've got my money back for that notebook, and have now bought a samsung notebook that works well with vlc. It's an NC110 i...
please provide the debug output.
by launching vlc from the command line, you'll get debug info in your terminal.
If you're lucky, you'll see an error message every 10 seconds there
I'm afraid you need to go to an itunes forum, not vlc forum. I suggest you google for video conversion to ipod or iphone. Last time I did such a conversion, I used ffmpeg. You may want to try that, but first find the ffmpeg command line for playout on ipod or iphone using google sorry I can't help m...
type the "a" key while watching the video, until you get the desired aspect ratio.
I'm guessing vlc is not understanding the aspect ratio of your files (i.e. are pixels square, rectangle, etc ...)
Bonjour Jean-Baptiste, I said above: I tried raising the number of seconds that vlc buffers (from 1/3 of a second to 30 seconds) and it did not change a thing. Are you suggesting something different? Also, I was suspecting that my firmware was outdated, so I checked, but in fact it was already the l...

Same problem here. It was a nice feature to be able to backup a few of my dvds for viewing on the train, but not anymore!
Does someone know the bug number?
as for me, I use the h and g keys on version 1.0.3 to delay subtitles.
great to watch a movie in a foreign language, and read subtitles 2 seconds after if i did not understand something
I have vlc 1.0.3 and a MediaBase 9.0 patch 4 server. vlc works fine as MediaBase client (play, pause, stop). But how do I make vlc use trickmode on a rtsp stream? In the message window every time I click the >> button right of the position slider, I get: main debug: control type=4 main debug: cannot...
Thanks, this looks like what I was looking for.
I don't know yet if I can trust that repository but it's good to know that livna is not the only source of "early rpms" for fedora
hello, I'm trying to upgrade to 0.9 (from 0.86) on My Fedora 9 laptop. I've set the livna distribution for yum. But when I try to install (with yum install vlc) it says 0.86 is the latest version. Does someone know a repository for getting vlc 0.9 for Fedora today? No reply in 5 days, well it looks...
remember that lowering cache value will have side effects on you video quality ...
1.7 seconds of delay is quite commonly accepted. Although I understand you may want to try to lower his
You should configure the cache on the receiving vlc player. input/access modules/udp NB by default it is 300ms, so no big hope of reducing dramatically the delay there On "server side", you have stream output/access output/udp that is also at 300ms and maybe you can tune it down a bit. now...

Let's say you want to watch a video that is 3Mb/s of bandwidth, your wifi provides 5Mb/s on average, but sometimes only 2Mb/s. In that case you will get what you describe which is not good. As a workaround you can set VLC to use more cache memory . For example, if accessing files over SMB file share...
I need to do screendumps of vlc playing videos for documentation purposes. I always get a black rectangle inside the vlc window. I would like to get both the vlc interface, and the video image inside. I'm thinking this is because vlc uses some hardware acceleration of my pc. If that's the case, how ...
to convert a file to mp3, do as follows: click on menu: "File" "Open File ...", browse for your original file. Easy until now! at the bottom of the window, click on "Stream/Save" in the window that pops up, select "File", and browse for the file name you want ...
I did some further tests:
if I convert my "Transport Stream CBR" file to "Program Stream CBR" using VLC it displays time correctly on the resulting file.
So it looks like VLC does not support displyaing the time on Transport Stream encapsulation.
I'm seeing the same symptom here. I transcoded videos from my mpeg2 camera (program stream VBR) using the mainconcept encoder. The result of my transcode is "transport stream CBR". If I play the original file I see time information (the length in minutes and seconds of the movie and where ...
