Still not working...I did exactly what you wrote and then I made a reboot but I'm still getting the same message.

Hi! I'm using Vista Home Basic and I've a pretty strange problem. When I try to run the vlc.exe the following message shows up: "vlc.exe has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly." It worked fine for a while, but one day (about 2 or 3 weeks ago) it crashed...
