Does the "portable" folder have to be a primary folder, or can it be a sub-folder?

Does VLC 3 have to be in a folder named "portable" in order to be portable? Can it be named and placed something/somewhere else?

I'm using v2.2.4 and it works fine except the Playlist/podcast workings has a lot of bugs. I'd like to try the latest version to see if there's any improvement, but I don't want the v2.2.4 to be over-written.

Is there a way to have two different versions of VLC installed at the same time?

I don't know what you mean by "VLC process memory". but it couldn't be RAM memory. Are they stored as temp files? If they are do you know where the temp files are kept, I can deal with them if I can find them. I'll try searching my computer for mp3 files, perhaps I'll find them in the VLC ...

I'm currently using VLC 1.1.11 and it won't play x265 mkv files. Which version do I need for this that will run in WinXP?
