I have this problem as well, and as far as I understand it a) the proper link is: http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/macosx-intel/ and b) since version 1.0 is dropping osx 10.4 support, that's not really a viable solution, since, at least the two posters here are not using 10.5

the easiest way I can think of would be to start vlc with something like /Applications/VLC/Contents/MacOS/clivlc "the name of your movie.mpg" You can type that into a terminal window and vlc will open with just the movie window. But, you don't have access to any features (pause, fast forwa...

Why would you need to? VLC, as far as I know, doesn't support the real libraries, and if you want to, you can run VLC from a terminal using clivlc.

Easy way is to have the playlist on the external monitor, and leave the default. For some reason, VLC accepts the display with the playlist/transport controls showing as the default monitor. I got it to work in the preferences once, but VLC doesn't really like its preference files.
