Re: mozilla plugin for flv

vlc is not flash player.

you can provide youtube http URLs to vlc, but you can't replace flash player with vlc.

Re: Free utility for playing G729.wav audio

hello vlc gurus ! I know this thread is quite old, but as the original author, I performed a google request on "vlc g729", and found this post. March 14, 2008, I think at least one release has been done since then, but I don't know if g729 has been included in those releases, it does not a...

Re: multicast join at startup

ok. Thank you for your reply, I do not open this multicast group manually. I did not activate bonjour/sap service discrovery. I'm not perfectly sure those packets are coming from vlc, but I don't understand why it's getting this slow when I disconnect the network (everything is done locally, using &...

multicast join at startup

hello, i'm trying to make some tests with vlc used as a streaming server locally (i.e. without any network connection) and when my ethernet network cable is disconnected vlc client is very slow and sometimes crashes. I have connected my network cable again and I've seen (using wireshark) that severa...

Re: How to get old VLC project from GIT

why don't you download source code directly:

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-sources.html

you can have a clean copy of this source code and another copy with your modifications and make some diffs between them.
I think it would be easier.

Re: Compile Problem UBUNTU Latest VLC Git Source Code

on debian etch, I configure vlc with the following options:

./configure --disable-qt4 --disable-skins2

It seems that you have a recent ubuntu, so maybe you can simply remove --disable-qt4

what is your hardware ?

I use a dell latitude d630 laptop.

Re: How to read log file?

I think those numbers don't correspond to elapsed time. Maybe a thread number, but i'm not sure. Take a look at src/misc/messages.c in source code.
There's a name at the beginning of the line giving module/plugin name.

Re: Compile Problem UBUNTU Latest VLC Git Source Code

i am not using any specific gcc command for compiling. I have followed the same steps as /bootstrap | ./configure | make and on 'make' I am having this compile error ! sorry but that's not what you told first: got the code from $ git clone git://git.videolan.org/vlc.git and after bootstrapping and ...

Re: Compile Problem UBUNTU Latest VLC Git Source Code

could you provide the complete gcc command line?

did you run make and then make install. not just make install

actually, to compile vlc you should run:

./bootstrap

./configure (with appropriate options, see --help)

make

make install (as root)

Re: VLC and Multicast Streams

use vlc as a streaming server and vlc as the client. With an intel centrino duo with 2GB of memory (dell precision m4300), you can stream up to 35 streams.

Re: vlc to darwin streaming server

I know that ffmpeg does not support h263 rtp payload. I know that vlc uses ffmpeg api for some features. Maybe it tries with ffmpeg and thus it cannot stream video as h263 over rtp.

Re: vlc to darwin streaming server

my advice: try with mp4v mp4a
and please avoid darwin on windows server 2003, for security reasons.

more generally, you could have a "wall of shame" like ffmpeg: http://ffmpeg.mplayerhq.hu/shame.html that would list all license viloations, etc.

Re: Controlling VLC with Telnet

rtfm

http://www.videolan.org/doc/streaming-h ... l#id313330

my advice is to use the http interface (/requests/vlm_cmd.xml?command=) with telnet-like commands. It's very useful.
