There´s a 3 seconds delay streaming video using Hauppauge PVR. There´s a command pvr-caching.... this command works? Anybody has used it? Is there any way to reduce this delay? I have tried with udp-caching but this command is only for capturers, not for compressors uding ivtv driver..... Thanks a l...

I think this option has been made to solve the 3 seconds delay streaming live video from compressor PVR (hauppauge 250 /350.....)

Be careful with compressors.

they have delays upper than 3 seconds when streaming live video.

Hauppauge PVR 350 /250 is not a good option if you want to stream live video.


No way to reduce the video delay....

in VLC 0.8.1 is said there´s a new option called pvr-caching.....

I´ve compiled it for Linux Fedora Core 2, but it looks like there´s no option called pvr-caching....


Anybody knows how to make it work?

Hi xtophe, pvr-caching doesn´t work.... and i don´t know why. is there any option to compile it? sout-udp-caching in server doesn´t affected the delay. This is for V4L cards, not for PVR cards. sout-udp-caching is for transmit and udp-caching for the client. Is there any way to reduce it? Using VLS ...

In Redhat 9, the driver is compiled by me (no changes on code, just make install) In Fedora Core 2, the driver is already compiled by third persons. The VLC streaming server is Redhat Linux, and i use the command line, no windows.....

you need to compile software with:

--enable-pvr.


PVR is for compressor cards.
