I get to play back hours of CCTV footage from many, many systems.

The only one I can't play back with VLC is footage recorded with the GeoVision codec.

a) What app are your using on your N95 to play the stream?
b) Can you do a multicast (as I've done to other PCs in the building) and just open a network address on the phone?

Stream / save options: Play locally / Filename c:\foo.ts / MPEG TS

What have I missed here?

All I get in the file is the audio without video.

I also worked out that any app that works with Jack OS X (or similar) can have its input routed to the built-in audio out thus streaming 'all sound'.

I've been trying to do the same here on a network of Windows XP machines (multicasting an internet radio stream so multiple users can all listen in sync). The solution of having 2 instances of VLC on the "server" machine is required if you want to have it play a copy of the stream in sync....
