Re: brief clicks and stoppages when playing mp3 files with 1

I can only load little over 200 kb of that file. After that it just stalls.
Don't know what to tell you — I just re-downloaded all 39 MB if it to make sure the link was OK, & no problems, at a decent transfer rate.

Re: brief clicks and stoppages when playing mp3 files with 1

1.1.0 The Luggage, XP Pro, up to date &c, deleted old preferences & cache when I installed the new version. I get the hitches when playing back an AVI encoded with Indeo 5 (thank you thank you merci beaucoup thank you for supporting this format!), with its audio in "PCM U8 (araw)" ...

Re: Building font cache

VLC 1.1.0 The Luggage, Windows XP Pro, current on all updates, everything on local drives/partitions. I have had a single instance of VLC open for several days (with periodic hibernation), & it has just today started doing this. I noticed the behaviour after updating OpenOffice. Please note that...

Re: Bugs after update. Issues.

still no help :?: :?: Well, it would help if you were more specific. Does this happen with every video you try? Only with one video? Only with one format — MPEG, WMV, FLV, something else? Obviously, if this were happening to everybody every time, there would be a lot more noise about it, so the mor...

Re: Bugs after update. Issues.

I too would like to know how to get rid of the Black Screen With Cone. I've gone through the obvious menu choices & not found a setting which seems to show it. I use VLC a good deal for playing audio files, & I expect it to just show a time slider. That was what it was doing at first, I thin...

Reset capture stream timer

Gentlemen: One of the things I use VLC for is viewing, via a capture card, video being played back from a LaserDisc player. I have timed subtitle files (mostly SSA & JacoSub) which go with many of the discs. At the moment, subtitling (with 0.9.8a on Windows XP Pro SP3) is not working : I get no ...

Explain this if you can!

Puzzlingly, when I try encoding at 192 kbps video and 16 kbps mono audio, it comes out fine [looking bad, but I mean it works, the audio actually exists]. Oddly the audio bitrate claims to be 720 kbps. I must explore further. Stream 0 is the audio track, and stream 1 the video track; whereas with th...

Cannot encode AAC audio

Windows XP Pro SP2, VLC 0.8.2 official release version. I'm trying to convert a .AVI file using 10 Mbps MPEG-IV video and 320 kbps MPEG audio, as created by a capture programme, into a .MP4 file using MPEG-IV video at 1.5 Mbps and MPEG-IV [AAC] audio at 320 kbps. I use the following sout string: :so...

Tradittore, traduttore.
...or something like that. I'm sure a real Italian would know. "A translator, a traitor." The pun works in most Romance languages since traductor is the root of both [obviously not in English, although translator and traductor do have much the same sense].

If you increase the DShow cache value to about 1000 milliseconds, this problem may resolve. Of course, this is intensley irritating to me because I am running the audio directly to my reciever [from LDP] with the result that the sound arrives long before the picture; but it does keep the video playi...

When you say "latest VLC" -- do you mean 0.8.1? It doesn't read the output from PVR cards properly. I use an 0.8.2 development version, and that works OK most of the time.

If you're using VLC 0.8.1, try one of the 0.8.2 development versions instead. It worked for me.

0.8.1 does not properly support compressed streams from DirectShow. If the hardware MPEG encoding is, as I suspect, basically the same component as in the eHomeWonder TV tuner card I have [which is basically nothing but a varactor tuner and an MPEG encoder], a development VLC version should recognis...

VLC 0.8.1 just doesn't work with capture cards; it always does something strange. You will have to use an earlier or later [i.e., developmental 0.8.2] version. The latter is what I do.

Try PS encapsulator

I very much suspect, from the description you are giving, that the stream is MPEG-II format; you can confirm this by examining the messages VLC outputs while playing the stream or the file you have recorded. I had been having a similar problem, and this is the solution I found: If I have saved the M...

Well, VLC is not really the kind of programme which uses a library of external CODECs. It is possible that you could have some kind of file corruption, but I would expect that using a different build would compensate for that. I am doing a head-to-head listening test between VLC and WinAmp as I type...

Well, you're not going to get much help if you don't report your OS, hardware, and VLC versions/descriptions. In fact the moderators here like to give nasty replies to people who ignore the announcement to that effect. So, what VLC are you running, on what kind of machine? If you specify, somebody c...

And I may put it there eventually, but I want to float it in the Forum first for comments. With the same equipment and procedure for setting up the edit points as before, I select the PVR card: dshow:// :dshow-vdev="ATI eHomeWonder Capture" :dshow-adev="" :dshow-size=""...

So you want to leave the video at its normal size, but situated in the middle of the screen on a dead-black background? Hmm... it seems like this ought to be possible somehow. VLC has some curious filters in the video decoding chain, and I for one have no idea what they all do.

I want to share, via this thread, a variety of simple methods to accomplish common tasks using VLC which I have discovered.
