edit: Reinstalled ffmpeg, vlc and other related files, no change.
Deleted the .vlc directory again, and its working great now.

VLC is great,

Hello, Im running Fedora 7 with VLC 0.8.6c installed from the livna repo through yum. However i can't play avi files.
