Re: Greater control over the speex codec when encoding

Any chance for work on this? (Forgive me if there has been, I looked through the snapshot sources and it still looks the same)

Speex in Ogg problem

Ogg is the native Speex container and indeed is the only Speex container supported by VLC. Yet for some reason I'n getting very high file overhead when I mux Speex in Ogg. For example :sout=#transcode{threads=2,acodec=spx,aenc=speex,channels=1}:duplicate{threads=2,dst=std{audio,access=file,mux=ogg,d...

Greater control over the speex codec when encoding

Currently there is nearly no control over the speex codec. It only supports narrowband and is hard coded to a quality level of 8 from my own tests and a look at the source (including SVN 0909). There is therefore no real way to change the bitrate or anything (ab does nothing). I would like greater c...

Re: Specifying the bitrate for transcode from WAV to Speex SPX/O

Well unfortunately from my own tests and taking a quick look at the source code, there seems to be very little control over the speex codec. For example control over the comp, quality, vbr/abr and other options seems to be missing. I thought I managed to get ultra-wideband when testing before but I'...

Re: streaming ogg

There is no such thing as an Ogg codec (or rather there are multiple Ogg codecs). i guess you mean the Vorbis codec? Or perhaps Speex? Anyway if you check out the help pages you can see that http://www.videolan.org/streaming-features.html Vorbis and Speex are not supported in the MPEG TS container. ...

Re: Point-to-point audio stream - efficiency

Out of interest what is the source stream? Is it not possible to just stream the file without transcoding? From a quality and CPU resources (of the streaming computer anyway) standpoint this would be the best option.

Re: Why no h.264/MPEG4 AVC in Ogg support?

Yes doesn't work. Interestingly h.264 works in most other containers including ASF & PS where it's currently specified in the docs as not working although it doesn't work in RAW or WAV not surprisingly. As Speex doesn't seem to work in any other containter the only option is to stream them seper...

Why no h.264/MPEG4 AVC in Ogg support?

Sorry if this had already been answered but I searched and didn't come up with anything... Why is there no h.264/MPEG4 AVC in Ogg container transcoding support? I was under the impression the Ogg container is perfectly capable of support h.264 video since it's a well designed open source codec. It's...
