Oh for God's sake...it's BLACK AGAIN!!! No video...what is going on???!!!

OK, well nothing worked so I wiped vlc from my hard drive, downloaded the zip package (the installer exe didn't work) and restarted.....now everything is fine.....phew....

I don't undersatand...all of a sudden, after using vlc for ages, I have this no video problem...tried all the suggestions above, nothing helps...full sound...black screen!!?? :( I forgot I am using XP Home with v 0.8.1 I have been using VLC since 0.7.2 with no problems...it just stopped working yes...
