Guys do i need to deinterlace MPEG2 stream coming from a DVB-S card or it is not interlaced ?

And... by the way... the deintelace filter of VideoLan doesn't seem to work. When i turn it on all i see is black screen with my marquee or logo.

I have a TV card (bt848-based) connected to external DVB receiver. I need to set up a broadcast server which is to stream at several different bitrates.
Is that possible with VLC ? What about hardware sharing ?
