spec me a good nightly build for x264 playback

i am currently using an old nightly build from june 2007

can any users recommend me a more recent nightly build which works well with x264 playback

oohh was using 0.86c but just tried the 0.90 (24/6 nightly build) noticed a big improvement on playback - now much smoother :)

Loop filter. Search on this very forum. i have searched just to confirm that i am looking at what i think is the settings you refer:- settings>preferences>video codecs>x264>tick box to skip loop filter >save btw theres an awful lot of other settings under the x264 codec i.e. pure interlaced etc

.mkv/ x264 playback settings?

are there any settings which i need to enable/ disable to obtain best results.

I'm running a fairly powerful processor E6600 and am looking at using vlc to the max for x264 playback.

any advice appreciated.

One of the reasons I registered today was to vote that the Clean Method worked for me and to voice my gratitude that DD/DTS 5.1 is now an option on the VLC player on my MCE 2005 PC. I'd pretty much given up hope until I saw this thread. success here to after giving up with this player in the past! ...
