As I said in a previous post, unoffical or not this does appear to work well with Vista. Having said that, I'll check the main page here in a few days or so and download the offical release.

At last! This latest version of VLC is fantastic. I run Vista Home Premium on Intel 2 core duo (T7200) with 2 GB Ram and Nvidia 9700 GS on my Dell laptop. I'm using 158.45 drivers. I can confirm that this works without any problems whatsoever. No need for the VLC tweaks with Vista in order to get it...
