Then in that case, can you suggest an application for specifically ripping subtitles from a dvd?

I would love to have a working alternative if this is impossible. =P

As it stands, the spc subtitle files extracted from (for example) oSEX (on the mac) are useless. There is no way to convert them into a standard, and cannot be played in VLC.

Though it would be great if they could.

I love VLC but I must say I have always had a problem with subtitles. They're.. Well, generally unreadable. No matter what I try I can't get them to look good.
