I looked on wiki before making a post and could find nothing. Would you be kind enough to show me the link? Did you even bother to look and see if the info I was seeking was already there? Or are you just assuming wiki already has an answer to my problem?

This is a nice feature that I never knew existed. I'm not getting the purple screen like you are and I've tested with several different encoding methods. Hopefully someone will be able to help you, but thanks for the guide. :D I have a question though: what is the best format for recording the desk...

I found a guide online that shows how to record your desktop using VLC. I got it to work but the problem I have is everything is purple and the audio isn't working.
I don't have this problem with DVD's or any other video files.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
