Maybe this will fix your problem... I don't know... my lib setup is weird because I have two lib dirs one for 32bit and one for 64bit natives libs..... so i'm not going to be able to help on the standard location for this.. I can tell you it's part of ffmpeg YOu need to specify on the vlc configure ...

Compilation Sucess!!!

I'm using the cvs daily release of ffmpeg (look at the output) it's only 3 days old... Anyway New problems... I got vlc working (YAY) am am happy to say that it plays all my formats well using sdl layer output =-). Problems 1 NO SOUND IN DVD's. Looks like a52dec isn't able to demux the audio streams...

Yup i've disabled all the ffmpeg codec plugins and i'm getting further will post again when(finger crossed ifnot) I have more compilation woes...

Hi There, I spent nearly 4 hours trying to get videolan compiled on my suse 9.1 machine. I can get it part way through compilation (after softing out and compiling all the dependancys). And managed to sort out some of the compilation options by slowly working my way through various configure script ...

Hi there, you think that a Forum link could be added to the main toolbars at the top of the http://www.videolan.org entrance page. This would be nice.

Hi there this is a feature request which I can't imagine would be too hard to implement and would be mega usefull. You know when you have a URL which has a query in it, which in return spits back an actuall location... Well rather than have to look at the http header information it would be real use...

Fair enough, I understand the need to keep the prog clean in case of problems. But... dosn't your quicktime implementation do this to support the proprietry sorenson codex? Or is there a fully GPL /BSD like implementation of these codec sets now... And what about the wma support same deal? In theory...

I don't know anything about streaming with the Real formats (they must be encapsulated in RTP in order to be read by RealPlayer, VLC hardly supports this). About playing, mplayer does this by linking to proprietary Windows DLL thanks to a modified dynamic loader. The problem is that VLC is GPL soft...
