Re: FULL Blu-Ray Playback

Why would VLC Codec Info page show 2 channels when 6 are present? Buggy file or VLC misidentifies it. All the files (about a dozen confirmed) with DTS audio tracks look like this in VLC and don't play audio. FFMPEG doesnt have a problem with identifying the headers, nor does Boxee. Both DVD and Blu...

Re: FULL Blu-Ray Playback

Works fine for me in VLC 1.2.0
Which OS/sound hardware did you test with? If Windows, did you add anything to the audio drivers library?
Why would VLC Codec Info page show 2 channels when 6 are present? Or 0 audio buffers played/decoded/lost?

Re: FULL Blu-Ray Playback

I just tried trunk 1.3.0-git-20120111-0008 Rincewind, on a Bocelli Under Desert Sky DVD and hear nothing using WinXP on Realtek ALC883, and see Codec info of MPEC AAC Audio (mp4A), channels=2, SampleRate=48K, Bits=16, Bitrate=1536kb/s. VLC 1.1 same info, same behavior. File is MP4 container created ...

Re: Video playback on wide monitor ?bug?

Default video output module is DirectX under Windows XP.
Then WMP uses something other than DirectX? WMP works.

Video playback on wide monitor ?bug?

When I play back a video like 720x480 on a 2560x1600 Dell 3007 panel, the rightmost area, possibly the part past 2048 pixels out of 2560 is black. As a window or full screen. As soon as the window increases past 2048, it seems to get smaller in width. In other words, a full width window that's just ...

Re: Ability to Fix Window Size

On a larger screen, DVD or fractional DVD files need 2x zoom or more. Is there a not-so-painful way to get a sticky zoom for the current file, i.e. remember zoom until you change files? Looping a video file has the same problem, zoom it, and it goes back to 1x when it starts over. Best would be to r...

Re: Convert, Closed Captions, and Bit Rate, Resolution info

I do like the ability to get to the stream info quickly, and latest version makes that easier than before. Although I would wish a tiny change, which would be to allow the information window to remain up even if the media fails to read, or the stream ends. In most cases that dialog disappears. I wou...

Re: Bluetooth headset RC

I found that my WinXP bluetooth stack got clobbered by XPSP2, seems a common issue with M$. Although I haven't tried it lately (where did I put that tiny USB-BT module?) the latest earpieces are really cool, small, and you can wear for a long time. Some of the BT devices can even transmit up to like...

Re: Smarter Caching

I just posted a set of ideas on this topic in a related thread viewtopic.php?f=7&t=45778

Actually, I think it would be even cooler, to have a cache that has some history in it, so slow forward/pause/slow rewind could be seamless to network lag.

Re: cache handling - immediately start playing from cache

It seems to me that the cache should always read ahead as fast as it can until full, for any input module, and not matter if the user presses pause or not. If you do something like rewind, you will have to refresh the cache, or reverse it's direction (read chunks in -ve time). The player (data eatin...

What about merging some of the capabilities of VirtualDub? This software is really strong in transcoding, but doesn't have as good a list of codecs as VLC. It does almost everything you asked for, including track separation, cropping, filtering, transcode-while-you-watch. It has no streaming support...
