Re: 3.5.4 Beta 1 on Pixel 4a Android - no files found

And yet, if the guy is browsing storage, it's going to fail and he ought to be told why. If you put up a dialog, he can always keep saying no.
I second this.

Re: 3.5.4 Beta 1 on Pixel 4a Android - no files found

Tough for some reason, recently some users have had their permissions reset, causing the issue you had. We are working on it, sorry for the inconvenience.
That is why this is beta and I'm testing it.

Re: 3.5.4 Beta 1 on Pixel 4a Android - no files found

Permissions settings aren't in VLC but in Android. However, other apps sensing they lack permission are able to guide the user to the right screen. Ya, other apps that I have pop up a permission screen. I'm surprised that VLC didn't pop up a permission screen before starting a scan, since it was kn...

Re: 3.5.4 Beta 1 on Pixel 4a Android - no files found

I started logging and had it rescan. I then went to dump the log and VLC popped up the VLC preference setting. VLC didn't have permission to deal with files. I looked everywhere within VLC to find the preference setting. The preference setting needs to be in the settings section. Once I turned it on...

Re: 3.5.4 Beta 1 on Pixel 4a Android - no files found

If you check the box, it automatically enables ALL the subdirectories. If you uncheck the box, then tap the directory name to enter the directory, you will be able to check the boxes for individual subdirectories. Thanks, I did not know that. I've since done that and only selected MUSIC and VIDEO. ...

Re: 3.5.4 Beta 1 on Pixel 4e Android - no files found

The auto rescan is checked. When restarted VLC, it started scanning. Under select directories to include, internal memory is checked and when I select it, it shows all internal directories as being selected. There is no way to unselect anything. When I select Music, I see the artists in alpha order....

3.5.4 Beta 1 on Pixel 4a Android - no files found

The phone has a boatload of files in the MUSIC and VIDEO directories, but it refuses to find any files. It finds over a thousand directories in the MUSIC location, but declares them to all be empty. The VIDEO director has no sub-directories, so it lists it as being empty. Rocket Player has no issue ...

Re: VLC 3.3.4 Beta 2 - where is video shuffle?

I would normally start playing videos by just selecting a video and playing it. There is no shuffle option when selecting the 3 dot button. I personally believe that it should be there. When I used your mode of selecting the play button, the first time I went into the options menu, the shuffle mode ...

VLC 3.3.4 Beta 2 - where is video shuffle?

On my recent trip, I tried playing videos on my Google Pixel 4A (Android 11). I gave up because I could not find a shuffle button. If it is there, it is well hidden. I'll be damned if I was going to manually pick videos from the extensive list.

For the 2nd time now I've gotten an e-mail notification that someone has responded to this thread and yet, when I open it, there is no reply. This time it is from Jean-Baptiste Kempf. What is going on?

Just like the other thread, trying to set the log via the Messages menu failed to work. The file is created, but no output is placed into it.

Here is the log file.

I hope that something sticks out.

Re: 3.0.6: No Control Panel in XP-32 bit

The text file gets created at the location I specified in the Save-As, but it is empty. Another bug. So, in desperation I went into advanced preferences and set the logging there and that worked. Here is the text file . Notice that it complains about 8 plugins not being found. They are all there. Ti...

3.0.6: Win7-64 - jerky and choppy video playback

Win7-64 is my newest system. The first version of VLC was 3.0.3 64bit. I just upgraded it to 3.0.6, hoping to fix the video playback issues. The majority of videos that I play are MKV wrapped H.264 files. When I play those back, full screen, they are jerky, unlike the smooth playback on my XP-32bit ...

3.0.6: No Control Panel in XP-32 bit

I just upgraded the XP-32 bit 2.2.2 version with 3.0.6 32 bit. Now the control panel no longer appears after I double-click the left button to go full screen. Also the cursor immediately vanishes. Normally I wiggle my rodent and the cursor would appear as well as the control panel on the bottom of t...

Re: Video Resolution Too High For Monitor - Can I Scroll VLC's Viewport?

When I start VLC, I get the video at the intended size, but it contains a windows border and is off-center. I then double-left-click on the video. VLC will then fill the screen with the video, borderless. In my case, 480/576/720 videos will then fill the screen (1920x1080). 4:3 videos will have pill...

VLC does not close after streaming to it - 3.0.3 x64

Win7 - x64
V3.0.3 X64

I use TSReader to stream to VLC (Ctrl-N to start it). When I'm done streaming, I use Ctrl-N to kill the streaming. But VLC stays active. On my XP system, when I'm done streaming, VLC (V2.2.2) closes. If there is a setting to tell VLC to close, I can't find it.

Thanks.

[SOLVED] Skip to next marker not working - 3.0.3 x64

Win7 - 64 bit
V3.0.3 x64

When I click on the button to go to the next chapter marker, VLC instead jumps back to the start of the video. Is there a setting that I need to set to get this to work? If so, I've not been able to locate it.

Thanks.

UPDATE: Nevermind! An error on my part.

Re: Enable Random Play - How?

When you playback, you can activate it in the adv options. If only that were the case. After I read this, I started up VLC again and tried it again. I hit the orange "play" button and it started playing the first alphabetical video. Touching the screen, I selected the "..." butt...
