"go ask on IRC" is a reply that might be useful, and I'll definitely do that . But it doesn't appear in asnwers to the questions, so I didn't think of that (yes, me n00b). Yes, I know it's on the help page, as well as recommendations to use mailing lists =0)

Yes, sure. You need to use the telnet interface. I don't remember the exact command, but if you list all commands, there are commands to load and save the config. I am not sure about command line options, I am not aware if there are any.

same here. Several things: 1) -I telnet doesn't work indeed, --intf telnet works, but using VLM seems to be the fastest idea (--intf http); 2) If you are trasncoding on the fly, try using diffent compression or no compression. I found that if you compress both audio and video, it will almost never w...

VOD [Video On Demand] RTSP Streaming

I have multiple problems with VOD Streaming via RTSP. I launch VLC with the following command line args: vlc --intf http --http-host 0.0.0.0:4000 --rtsp-host 0.0.0.0:5554 1)I have a Linksys WRT54G Router, DMZ'd to the server machine. If I try vlc rtsp://localhost:5554/test1 it works (video + audio p...
