How to disable the Main Window?

How do I disable the Main Window? I prefer it the way it was before, when it was just a media player and not a media library.

Thanks in advance!

Re: VLC[812] Media key event tap was disabled by timeout

*bump* Still happening, still would like the previous version of VLC please...
Get 1.1.9. It is what I've got running and is less buggy. Get it here (if you're on Mac Intel 32-bit). The other copies are here.

Re: Since 1.1.10, media keys are disabled for iTunes

Keep "Control playback with media keys" checked, then.
I don't want the media keys to control playback, though. I want VLC to completely ignore them. However, VLC is instead disabling the media keys so I can't use them with iTunes when VLC is open.

Re: Since 1.1.10, media keys are disabled for iTunes

Apologies, I meant 1.1.10. And I believe 1.1.10.1 just came out a few days ago, which has the same problem of course.

Since 1.1.10, media keys are disabled for iTunes

In VLC, I have unchecked "Control playback with media keys" so I can continue using them for iTunes instead. I normally listen to music, so when I open a video, I hit the "pause" key to pause the music. However, since 1.1.10, hitting the pause key does nothing when VLC is active....

copy the old vlcrc file
I found the file in ~/Library/Preferences/VLC/, but where do I copy it to? I only have one "VLC" folder in /Preferences/.

Preferences did not import

None of my preferences, such as hotkeys, from VLC 1.0.1 have imported to 1.1. How do I import them manually?

Video device is set to 'Screen 1' by default?

The 'video device' setting is set to 'Screen 1' by default (I have 2 monitors). For older versions of VLC, it was set to 'Default', which is what I'd like it to be set as from the beginning. How can I change the default settings for this? Whenever I restart VLC it changes back to 'Screen 1'. Thanks ...

In VLC it's right there on the "Open Network Stream" screen towards the bottom.
Can you show me a screenshot?

Get a faster network/more reliable switches? You could try setting the "Cache" option in the open dialog to like 3 seconds - thats helped me, though it makes the player less responsive.
I can't find the Cache option. Where is it?

Video sometimes stutters when watching over network

When I'm watching a video over the network, it stutters every once in a while. It cuts out and back in for a second every minute or so.

How do I fix this? The file extension is .avi and the video codec is XviD.

Your problem is caching on the client side, not the server side. Increasing the server cache will cause it to buffer more data from the file/disc it has open so the server will not have problems reading the media. To cache more locally, increase the buffering amount on the client. Media > Server Ca...

How do I drag the corners of the video?

On Windows, you can drag the corners of the VLC player to make the window smaller or bigger. But on OS X, you can't seem to drag the corners.

How can I drag the corners? I can make the video half/double the screen, but how do I make the window size a custom size?

Fast forwarding in a video makes video fuzzy for few seconds

When I fast forward a video, the video becomes fuzzy for a few seconds. This happens to not all videos, but many (especially WMV).

How do I make the volume slider wider?

How do I make the volume slider wider, so I can tell the difference between, say, volume at 20 and volume at 30? It looks the same, since there are really only 5 vertical 'bars' in Windows XP to display the volume, which makes it really hard to choose a specific volume level.

Thanks in advance! :)

Fast forwards twice as fast

When I click somewhere in the area that fast forwards, it actually fast forwards twice. Why? I only click once, too. Is this a known problem?

Blurry when fast forwarding, for 1 second?

Certain files, such as a *.wmv file I have, when I fast forward by clicking anywhere in the tracker, it gets blurry for a second or two then goes back to normal.

Why? And how can I fix this? :)

Thanks!

That means you only have one single file/chapter then.
But that is what you need to open in order to play it in VLC.
Oh damn, playing the .dat does work.

I'm surprised that the movie is put into a .dat file, all in a text-extension format  But anyways, thanks! :)
