Note that the file access module is implemented differently in 1.1.0 and that should work around the bug

are you compiling from git or a tarball ? in the latter case, don't run ./bootstrap.

in the first case your libtool or autotools installation is screwed

install the package with the debug symbols if it exists (vlc-dbg) and get a backtrace with gdb

hey I got two issues with the vlc plugin 1) There are no controls !! http://omploader.org/tM3Z0OQ As you can see one can't switch to full screen or fast forward etc. The normal keybindings don't work either. Without controls the plugin doesn't make much sense does it? Keyinding works in fullscreen....

not necessarly. But look at the end of the mesage of configure in the terminal. It should be quite obvious why it's not happy

Then read the output of configure and config.log and find out why configure doesn't succeed.

Ypu're not really running VLC as root. That's the whole point of the wrapper. The only thing it does as root is to opens port 80 , then it goes back to being a normal user

open a terminal and lauch "vlc -vvv" and read the messages. You can also paste them here.

Your vlc install seems seriously screwed as it can't create threads and can't find its plugins.

Does vlc's log have any interesting messages ?

It doesn't seems to be happy with the mjpeg you feed it. Can you watch this stream in vlc ?

1 problem i see in it is that some people prefer to translate offline. And I don't want to have to track which locale are on webtranslateit and which one are the current way

It's actually fiwed only in the future 1.1.0 because changing in the current bugfix branch would break translations in all language but english.

Also note that the latest version is 1.0.5

you could re-configure with --enable-debug so the the backtrace would be more useful but I'm afraid it'll go back to selinux

Try starting vlc from a console:
vlc -vvv

It looks like you have an archaic make. Do you have GNU make somewhere on the system ? (gmake ?)
Else you need to find the culprit line and rewrite/disable it.

from the very little log you posted it seems to be in /po so you can try --disable-nls in your configure

(the run and bt commands needs to be done inside gdb)
