Re: DVB-T tuner stops after few seconds

You need administrator privileges because the program needs to write to the registry
Either that or it doesn't like MPEG-4

Re: VLC Win32 DVB-S commandline

Have you got BDA drivers installed?
That's one cause of the error "Cannot find a suitable System Tuning Space"
Another is when the BDA install did not set up the registry properly

Re: DVB-S tuning

after testing i can confirm DVB-S is working and quite stable, as long as the right set of parameters is given. Anyway, it seems DVB-S2 is not supported at all - any change to get that working? There are a couple of aspects to DVB-S2: One is the new modulation types like 8PSK which is not supported...

Re: ATSC Hauppauge WinTV 1600 in VLC 1.0.3

Microsoft Network Provider was introduced in Windows 7. Under XP the Microsoft ATSC Network Provider was needed for VLC to work and I suspect is still needed.

Re: DVB-C Streaming

The good news is that its finding the right device the first time but appears to be not receiving a signal. Error 0x8007001f apparently means "A device attached to the system is not functioning" and some devices apparently return that code when they are not receiving. I say apparently beca...

Re: VLC 1.0.2 and DVB-T

It is finding the System Tuning Space (called DVB-T) but is failing when it tries to save the Tuning Space. Suggests that the Registry is being locked but AFAIK nothing has changed between 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 in BDA module - certainly not in that bit of code.

Make sure BDA driver is installed.
Also, you need to provide the frequency - not channel number

Re: Capturing Clear QAM (ATSC) - help needed with vlc1.0.0-rc4

Have you been able to capture without using a playlist? Helps to remove possible causes of error. The error you are getting indicates that the tuner is not receiving a signal. Your command line looks odd atsc://frequency=579000000:bandwidth=6 I would try atsc:// :frequency=579000000 :bandwidth=6 for...

Re: DVB-T Hardware Supported? -> ASUS "My Cinema U3000 Mini"

There is a feature to select and create System Tuning Spaces if for some reason they have disappeared from your registry or if you just want an alternative with different default values - this is mainly of use for those using DVB-S to handle the many permutations of LNBs, DISEQc switches, multiple c...

Make sure you have BDA drivers installed for your device. That is the main reason for no system tuning space.

The ATSC module is disabled in 0.9.8a but is working in 1.0.0 nightlies - although more testing is still needed.

Building VLC (and especially cross compiling) is not a task for the faint-hearted and requires great skill and determination. These obstacles are placed in your way to ensure you have the required willpower to continue. :D

Re: DVB-S and 0.9.8a

There are some posts that suggest the BDA plugin has had some fixes but only in the 1.0.0 nightlies. Is this correct? That's right and at the moment vlc 1.0.0 is not working with the BDA module. I have just submitted some changes that should overcome that so 1.0.0 nightlies should be usable before ...

Re: Problems with DVB-S

Thank you so much for all this. I'll give it a try. In the meantime I switched to Fedora, which has taken me the last few weeks to figure out. Maybe I'll go back to windows now... The latest fixes are not in the 0.9 nightlies - just in 1.0 But so far 1.0 does not work for me. However, we can get th...

Re: Problems with DVB-S

Hi Kens Do you have an example of the command line you use? What's the name of the VLC source file for DVB-S? So much depends on your hardware setup but here is an example: vlc.exe dvb-s:// :dvb-frequency=12153000 :dvb-srate=27500 :dvb-polarisation="L" :dvb-lnb-lof1=10600000 Source code i...

Re: Problems with DVB-S

We have success. VLC 0.9.8a DVB-S module is working just fine. It is critical to include :dvb-lnb-lof1 (and :dvb-lnb-lof2 and :dvb-lnb-slof for dual band LNBs) matching the Local Oscillator Frequency (LOF) of the LNB you are using. You should also be able to set these in Preferences to save them. Yo...

Re: Problems with DVB-S

I am beginning to understand how DVB-S works. For any questions on DVB-S (for now) the critical information is: 1) Are you using DISEqC? 2) What model of LNB (or LNBs) are you using? If you know the Local Oscillator Frequency (LOF or LO Frequency) of your LNB you need to specify on the command line ...

Re: Problems with DVB-S

Did some testing with Lorni and have established that vlc 0.9.8a works on DVB-S in a situation with a LNB connected directly to the receiver and with linear polarisation. Lorni can switch frequency, symbolrate and polarisation and receive signals. When he switched to a different LNB with circular po...
