This really needs to happen; this behavior is my only main problem with how VLC handles soft subs. Do not have subs timeout and disappear when VLC is paused.

nightly build server?

The nightly build server seems to be down at this moment. Is this just temporary, or is there a another place I could get the latest development version to test this out?

Unsaved Audio Output Setting...

It seems like when I set the coreaudio Audio Output module device value to 1 (from its default setting of 0), then hit save and quit VLC, if I launch VLC by opening a VLC-bound document (.avi, .mkv, .ogg, etc.), or by dragging a document on the VLC app, this device value will revert to 0. If I set t...

Solution

This is a G5-specific bug with VLC. Go to the preferences/Modules/audio output/coreaudio section and switch the value there from 0 (or -1) to 1. Then save, quite VLC, and you'll be good to go. If you've already run VLC with the default setting, and it has hosed coreaudio (you no longer get any sound...

Fix: Change Text Rendering Size

You can work around this by adjusting the text rendering size. If you go to the Preferences/Modules/text renderer/freetype, you can change the Font Size in Pixels. I've found that 25 pixels is a pretty ideal size for 4x3 video. YMMV.

Found another bug in the latest nightly build of 0.8.0 (200410140323) on MacOSX 10.3.5 (0.8.0-t2 is also affected). On many ogm and mkv movies, but apparently not on .avi divx movies, using the fast forward and rewind commands will not function properly, instead going to near the beginning of the fi...
