Strange behaviour when rotating video

Hi there, I'd really appreciate a little help with this. I have a simple little .mov video shot with a digital camera. It opens and runs happily in my videolan. But when I rotate it 90 degrees - preferences/filter... Although the images rotate - the effect is as if they are now black and white, thou...

audio desync

Hi there, I'm trying to delay the audio in the following stream by about 10 secs (I have found that the ctrl L/K doesn't cope with the delay on the fly so I want to do it whilst CREATING my dub). However, I cannot see WHERE to put the audio-desync=10000 into the 'target' line below - please can some...

Can anyone tell me how to save the stream at africam.com?

Thanks so much.

I am making progress - I can see that opening DVDs in videolan works around the region code which is very helpful when you're on the move all the time. And I can see how to open streams... And I can see how to save to file... But I'm still bamboozled by the containers/contents stuff - but I won't re...

I know this must seem daft but...

The wiki is just mindblowing for someone new to all this stuff. And after 3 hours on separate nights I still cannot see how to simply achieve what I'm after. A good, compressed version of a DVD file that can be opened in virtual dub (which can handle mpeg2 and avi). I can see that videolan doesn't o...

Thanks dj - still no joy

Files created in my videolan can only be played in my videolan - which means I cannot further edit them.
Any other thoughts?

OK - it's in PLAY

That's a great feature.

Thank you

But I'd still love to be able to correct it in the saved file.

Can it be done?

THanks as ever

Thanks DJ

Is there somewhere in the help/faqs that tells me more about these things - I had a very good look, but didn't find them. When/where/which screen should I be on to make these shortcuts work - and can they be part of the 'save' process so the file gets saved correctly, or are they just part of the 'p...

THanks DJ - these are the settings

Hi DJ
These are the settings I'm using to save the file:
MPeg ps
video codec mp4v, bitrate 512,scale 0.5
audio codec mp3, bitrate 32 channels 1

But the file that's output won't open in mpeg2 version of virtual dub.

Do I neeed to change the settings?
Thanks again

How do I simply delay the audio track by 1 sec

..to get it in sync with the video?

And can I do this in such a way as to leave the video and audio unprocessed?

(I know how to do this in virtual dub, but I cannot get the mpeg ps files that are output from videolan to open in VD)

Thank you

Thanks DJ

..but having spent some time playing with this beauty, I'd love to keep going!
I can see you are a moderator - does that mean that you cannot do compressions of everything in a folder...or perhaps use a 'control' to save a number of jobs that can all then be RUN together.

Thanks again

Thank you

If I add the .mpeg extension, then they are associated with videolan.

(Should I need to do that manually or should the program output files with the .mpeg extension?)

Two questions - audio timing and virtual dub

Hi there, I'm getting some audio problems with things being slightly out of sync - is there a simple way to adjust the timing of the audio forward and back as there is in virtual dub? And if not, is there a reason why an mpeg ps file from videolan won't open in virtual dub? If there is, what sort of...

Getting the right settings and file association

HI there, This is a conversion/save question. I've found that settings: MPeg ps video codec mp4v, bitrate 512,scale 0.5 audio codec mp3, bitrate 32 channels 1 Seems to give me a nice small usable output. Can anyone suggest a better combination that would give better results without compromosing watc...

Can I set videolan to compress a folder full of files

HI there,
I've just found this wonderful program and have found it great for reducing VOB files down.
However, I cannot see how to make it work through a folder full of files rather than one at a time. Can somebody help me please?

Thank you

P
