Ah I got it now thanks had to double click the video option to get the sub menu's. Doh!!

There's absolutely no mention in any of the advanced options in any category that refers to DirectX? How very weird. Could it be missing from my laptop? Its brand new, but im not very techie in this sense.

I love VLC over WM player and this is driving me crazy!
