Suppress Further Errors...

This one's about VLC on OS X. Quite often when opening a high resolution xvid video, or anything sufficiently demanding (and its more likely with Azureus on in the background taking up my resources), I get the "Dropped frames - slow computer?" error message. My machine's a PowerBook G4, al...

.mkv icon in OS X

On checking out VLC with CandyBar 2 I see you've a ton of icons there for the different file types. I must admit to being a fan of the ones I've seen for myself.

But shock horror no mkv!

I'm sure this will be the top priority for the next release
Anyway, great player. An OS X essential.

The Mac OS X icon for VLC is already quite nice... especially hardware scaled.
(Previously it was very similar to your one now)

Oh incidentally I didn't make it clear ...

The audio and subs work just fine, all I'm looking for is a way to avoid having to pause playback and manually select them every time!

Default playback language...

Would it be tough to get VLC to auto-select a particular language (when available) in multi-language video files? And would it be practical to ask for something similar in subtitles ... such as even an auto-on preference... You see I primarily watch anime, and like Japanese audio and English subtitl...

Using GSpot codec info on a PC, I've pulled the following info on those files I had with direct vobsub titles integrated into the .avi itself: DirectVobSub (auto-loading version) vsfilter.dll (c) 2001-2004 Gabest The link given in the details leads to the guliverkli project at sourceforge, home of M...

I don't know about VLC being able to zoom by itself, but you could try OS X's own zooming feature, which is done in OpenGL and so is nice and slick. When you have it turned on (somewhere in System Preferences, Accessability if I recall) then you can use command-option "+" to zoom in and co...

I've not had luck with either of the 0.8 test releases - they like crashing on files I know to play fine on 0.7. This is on Mac OS X 10.3 Have to say I do like the new features though. Much anticipation for the full release. Oh, for the OS X version, what are the chances of coordinating the equalize...

Actually the files I have are a bit odd. The DirectVobSub subtitles are embedded inside the .avi - at least that's what the readme says that came with them. I got them on bit torrent and apparently none of the other seeds have reason to complain. Plus my brother says he sees the subtitles just fine ...

I just tried it with a couple. Crashes on loading either! Whoops. Unfortunately a search of the readme etc. it comes with shows up nothing for DirectVobSub (normal VobSub is another matter). Have to say there's a bunch of extras I do like the looks of, but I doubt a Direct Show filter soft sub forma...

I just read on doom9.net that DirectVobSub is "simply a DirectShow filter which can be used to display subtitle files created by VobSub during playback" which must mean DirectX. Uh oh. Sounds like a pain outside of Windows.

DirectVobSub...

Are there any plans to include support for DirectVobSub subtitle format? I searched the forums and only found a passing reference saying something about them being GPL'ed. If there are no plans, anyone know a way to play files with them on Mac OS X? (VLC is the best player on the OS bar none!) Or is...
