Rewrite URL for VLC?

Hi,

How do I play this URL in VLC?
http://213.132.119.13:7144/pls/565ADD71 ... 4A18C197B1

The URL is using ActiveX code, and I wonder how I can rewrite the url so that I can play it in VLC instead of WMP.

Thanks!

I was told by Dnumgis in the peercast IRC channel that you can rewrite the URL to get it to work in VLC, BUT you will have to stream from the source and this is against the whole idea of the Peercast network. This is how you rewrite the url and play as a network stream in VLC: http/m3u://213.132.119...

OK, try connecting to the source then: http://213.132.119.13:1290
That should work just fine.

Requires 0.8.0-test2 though and these codecs: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/window ... nload.aspx

Hi Sigmund,

The link is not down since I am watching it, but it requires the Peercast client to be installed in order to watch it. http://www.peercast.org
The Peercast client takes care of the linking to the player, but they have not very good ASX support yet.

Cheers,
SteelRat.

I have tried what you mention and it does not work with the 0.7.2 or the 0.8.0 test-2 version of VLC. It works locally on a LAN, but not on Internet at this time (from my experience, and believe me - I have tried). If you want to stream Windows Media content you can just as well download http://www....

Oups..sorry. http://www.peercast.org  I just as well do this right: I want to be able to click "Play" on a WMV stream in the Peercast Yellow pages. http://yp.peercast.org/?type=wmv&bitrate=&genre= Currently I am using Windows Media Player 9 to do this, but I would like to pre...

Will there be better support for Peercast in VLC?

I have been using Peercast for a while now to watch streaming TV and Video from the net and it works really well. I wonder if VLC will support the peercast protocol to allow easier streaming of WMV and similar format from Peercast? Today I use Windows Media Player but with some workarounds I can get...

Requires the 0.8.0-test2 version though.

Hmmm, I played around with this a bit.
It does not work in VLC, but if I do the same in NSVCAP to do a shoutcast it works just fine.
I have no idea why, but it seems to be related to the code of VLC and not the drivers of the gfx card.

I tried the test 2 version but it still does not work, it is not a big problem but it is a bit annoying to have to use Windows Media Player instead of VLC.

I have a test stream running, with audio only if you want to give it a try.

Streaming to multiple PC's on internet?

Hi! I am playing around with VLC and it is an awesome piece of work! I would like to be able to stream to a couple of PC's that are on the Internet from my 10Mbit internet connection. I have searched the documentation and read the forum but still don't understand how to set it up. It works locally w...
