I've read docs and Wikis for hours until I'm blue in the face. The issue is not how it's used. The issue is that I can't get it to INSTALL on a commercial non-GUI OS like RHEL/CentOS. All libraries, RPMs, how-tos, etc seem to be for hobby, uber-geek, & bleeding edge distros. Installing from sour...

I'd be happy to just get an install script, an RPM, or a human that can install a NON-GUI version on a web server (with a commercial operating system - i.e. RHEL/CentOS) and solve the insane number of dependencies that just keep kicking my a$$ every time I try it myself. Seriously guys, *real* serve...

unsolvable dependencies in CentOS 4.4

I tried to kill everything that seemed like it might be superfluous to a command-line-only version that will just be streaming mp4 and h.264. Here's what I came up with: ./configure --disable-dvdnav --disable-mad --disable-ffmpeg --disable-libmpeg2 --disable-wxwidgets --disable-skins2 --disable-X11 ...

Server install

I've been trying for days to get VLS or VLC to install on a cPanel/Centos4.4 commercial server and the defaults for Yum, RPM, and source methods all insist on a bunch of packages that have no business on a web server - things like Samba, Gnome, X, etc. Can anyone point me to a reasonably easy method...

A simple server configuration?

I'm trying to use VLx as a video server that streams a playlist. It looks like this is possible with a little work, but I'm having some trouble with the installation. VLS looked more appropriate for my application so I tried that first, but installation (from source) failed with a bunch of non-libra...
