The definitions for other MIME types / file formats are not included in version 0.8.6a of the plugin. One workaround is to download the source from trunk (0.9.0), build the plugin, and replace the definition file /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/VLC Plugin.plugin/Contents/Resources/VLC Plugin.rsrc with th...

The file is using a unknown or proprietary audio codec that VLC doesn't support. If you are using the latest version of VLC, there is probably nothing you can do to watch the video with audio in VLC. The string 'undf' is a generic token used in VLC for unknown / unsupported codecs. To determine exac...

My guess is that one of the files in the rar archive you have downloaded is corrupt. You should try to download the files again, or extract the archive with another program (e.g. UnRarX).

The problem has nothing to do with VLC.

The plugin for PPC is available from the Mac OS X download page. As far as I can tell from looking at the source code, the only supported MIME types in the VLC 0.8.6 release is application/ogg, application/x-ogg, application/x-vlc-plugin (?) and video/x-google-vlc-plugin. I don't know if the 0.9.0 v...

It seems to crash randomly. While opening files, during playback, right now I am watching a divx video, and the "fading" control panel overlay is frozen in mid-fade, i must Force Quit. Moving-the-mouse-while-controller-is-fading-out-crash is a known bug. It annoyed me, as I like to drag t...

There are many issues with the version in trunk. The preferences doesn't show any options and the application won't quit (like you said). f you want a somewhat stable release, try the 0.8.6-bugfix branch (download one of the releases named branch-* from nightlies or checkout branches/0.8.6-bugfix fr...

If the problem occurs when you are moving the mouse while the fullscreen controller fades out, this is a known bug. See ticket #978.
