What have you tried so far? Because it just works fine here, for DVD's streams and .avi files.

I was trying to use this methode, but after about 15 seconds the video already started in my FireFox (2.0.0.2). So maybe it is just a lack of patience for some of us.

Mayby not the answer you're waiting for, but a shot in an other direction. Is it possible to use your PDA as a second display for your system? (As in, the second monitor is your PDA)
If so, you could have the controls of VLC in this screen and watch your HTPC entertainment on your TV.

Well, I've spoken to someone who seems to know a little more about it. The thing to blame is WxWidgets, it can react in different ways while the circumstances are the same. I can not help you with your problem, but I've got an question for you.
Do you really want to play on you Wii via your computer? As far as I know, there will be some delay in the output of the screen because of the WinTV-card. This has something to do with the capturing process.

Maybe I've found the origin of the problem.
When I was trying to put up my messages screen (ctrl+m) and my playlist (ctrl+p) I saw in my messageswindow that ctrl+m is assigned to 'Go to DVD Menu'.
Maybe this is also the case with the other hotkeys, that they have been overwrited with another one.
