All of a sudden there is no sound on all of the .avis I am attempting to play. The volume meter in VLC is set to 50%, the volume control in the systray is all the way up, and my speaker volume button is set appropriately. Yet, there's no sound. I was able to fix the problem by changing the brightness setting through my Nvidia Control Panel. But I'd have liked to keep the Nvidia settings intact while only changing the default brightness in VNC. So if anyone has any other ideas, let me know. Thanks guys.

Thanks, but that didn't actually seem to do anything. It was set as default to 1.120000. I changed it to 1.5. That didn't do anything. So I changed it to 0.5 just to test it out and there was no difference from the 1.120000. Same with a 2.0 setting. Any idea why? Thanks!

That worked! Sweet! How come that only happens for certain avi files? I would think that if it was a problem with my audio settings all along, then every avi file should have played that way. For the avi files that didn't have that problem should I revert the setting back to 5.1? Thanks!!

All of a sudden it seems like any AVI I play keeps skipping every couple of minutes, even with AVIs that I've played before with no problem. I've tried restarting my computer and clearing the preferences, but it still happens. What else can I try? THANKS!
