Re: H.264/.mkv to WMV???

Hi,

The video was encoded at 720x576, and if I set the scale to be 1.25 I end up with a video that is stretched along Y, rather than
squashed. If I set the scale to 0.75 I end up squashed again. What is the magic ratio that i need?????

Please help this is driving me nuts.

Cheers, Jon

H.264/.mkv to WMV???

Hi, I'm trying to transcode some video that was encoded with h.264 and aac - I need it in WMV format so I can stream it to my xbox360. The video plays fine in VLC, but when I use my trusty old VLC command line it fails  The video is squeezed in the Y direction, but the width seems to be fine, a...

Re: transcode to WMV for 360 - problems

Hi, After much playing around this is the script file that works for me: C:\>type VLC.bat "C:\VLC\vlc.exe" -vvv %1 :sout=#transcode{vcodec=WMV1,vb=1500,scale=1,acodec=wma,ab=96,channels=2,samplerate=44100,deinterlace}:std{access=file,mux=asf,dst=%1.wmv} vlc:quit Okay so here's the walk thr...

really interesting

I wonder how sensitive the transcoding process is to the the codec packs you have installed. I am a complete novice at this, and am having similar problems with AVI -> WMV conversion for streaming to my Xbox 360. The AVIs look great, the WMVs are total crap. Is this problem related to using WMV3 rat...

AVI to WMV??

Hi, Using some info in a thread I found here I tried to convert (?transcode) an AVI video to WMV format. The results are pretty disappointing. Can you help? The command I use is: "C:\VLC\vlc.exe" -vvv %1.avi --sout-ffmpeg-qscale 1 :sout=#transcode{vcodec=WMV3,scale=1,acodec=wma,ab=96,chann...

Nope doesn't work

Hi, I wanted to lert you know that whilst VLC is able to convert AVI to WMV, and that it is possible to play this through WMP11, when I try to play the file through my Xbox360 it reports that it is an unsupported format. I also tried TVersity - same result nothing plays. I'm not sure if this is some...

transcode for xbox 360

Hi, I need to transcode (is this the right expression?) some AVI video to WMV format to allow streaming from my PC to an Xbox 360. As you can probably guess, this is turning out to be a real bitch. The AVI appears to have been created using k-lite codecs (I guess this is just a collection of freely ...

streaming to an Xbox360?

Hi, Couple of questions. 1) Can any part of VLC be used to stream video to an Xbox 360? Apparently Windows media player 11 can do this, but I'm having real problems with some AVIs that I'd like to stream. I can play the vids with VLC, but I can't play them with WMP. I get pictures but no sound. It s...

Huh?

But VLC for windows can do this easily! Can you get onto a Windows box? I'm having a similar problems with a load of vids that I have in AVI format, which don't appear to want to play when streamed from my Win XP machine to my Xbox360. So, I'm in the process of trying to batch convert a load of them...
